Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership and supervision to a team of social workers within the locality team, ensuring effective case management and safeguarding practices.
  • Oversee and manage complex child protection cases, including Section 47 investigations, care proceedings, and child in need plans.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, policies, and procedures related to child protection and safeguarding.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits and case reviews to maintain high standards of practice and performance.
  • Promote a strengths-based approach in assessments and interventions, ensuring the voices of children and families are heard and central to decision-making.
  • Support social workers with professional development, training, and reflective supervision to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners, including health, education, and law enforcement, to deliver coordinated and effective services.
  • Manage and allocate resources effectively to meet the needs of the locality team and community.
  • Monitor team performance, ensuring timely and accurate record-keeping and adherence to service standards.
  • Contribute to service development and strategic planning, working closely with senior management to implement change initiatives.
  • Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with a Degree in Social Work (or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England (or equivalent governing body).
  • Significant experience in children's social work, including child protection, safeguarding, and complex case management.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a children's services setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK legislation, policies, and frameworks related to children's social care.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage complex caseloads, and support a high-performing team.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
  • A valid UK driving licence is often preferred (depending on the role).
  • We require an experienced senior practitioner / ATM to come into the team and provide management support to the two team managers and 3 senior practitioners already in the service. This role will cover supervision of PA's and case holding a reduced caseload of complex young people. This role will required case holding which includes writing pathway plans, visiting them at home and providing support alongside the Local Offer to CEYP. This role also requires 2-3 days per week in the office at BCP Civic / on duty at 333 CL Hub, there is a degree of flexibility depending on service needs.
