Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of children in care, ensuring each child receives appropriate support, interventions, and care planning.
Undertake statutory visits, assessments, and care planning in line with legislative and policy frameworks.
Develop and implement care plans that focus on achieving stability, permanency, and positive outcomes for children.
Work in partnership with children, families, foster carers, schools, health services, and other professionals to meet the holistic needs of the child.
Ensure timely reviews and permanency planning for children in care, facilitating participation from children, families, and relevant stakeholders.
Prepare reports and present findings in court, reviews, and multi-agency meetings where necessary.
Promote children's rights, voice, and participation in decision-making processes.
Identify and manage risks, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
Support young people transitioning out of care, working closely with leaving care services.
Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality records and reports in line with organisational and regulatory requirements.
Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in children's social work.
Essential Requirements
Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work (e.g., BA, MA, DipSW, CQSW).
Registration with Social Work England.
Proven experience in working with children in care, child protection, or safeguarding.
Strong understanding of UK legislation and guidance related to children in care (e.g., Children Act 1989, Care Planning, Placement and Case Review Regulations, Working Together to Safeguard Children).
Ability to build positive relationships with children, young people, families, and carers.
Experience in multi-agency working and collaborative practice.
Excellent communication, assessment, and analytical skills.
Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
