Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive kinship care assessments in line with statutory guidance, policies, and procedures.
  • Work in partnership with children, families, and professionals to ensure the best outcomes for children requiring kinship care.
  • Complete detailed and analytical viability and full kinship assessments, presenting findings at panel meetings.
  • Provide ongoing support, supervision, and training to approved kinship carers.
  • Work collaboratively with other social work teams, legal services, and external agencies.
  • Prepare high-quality reports for court proceedings and attend court when necessary.
  • Participate in case discussions, safeguarding meetings, and care planning processes.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
  • Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification).
  • Registered with Social Work England (or relevant UK social work regulatory body).
  • Significant post-qualification experience in children's social care, particularly in kinship, fostering, or similar assessment roles.
  • Strong knowledge of child protection procedures, fostering regulations, and the legal framework surrounding kinship care.
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle (if required for the role).
