About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Quality Assurance and Practice Development Officer to join our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) service. This role is crucial in ensuring high standards of quality assurance and practice development across our SEND services, supporting continuous improvement in education, health, and care provision for children and young people with SEND.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Develop and implement quality assurance frameworks to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including the SEND Code of Practice and the Children and Families Act 2014.
  • Practice Development: Provide training, guidance, and best practice support to teams, ensuring consistent and effective delivery of SEND services.
  • Audits & Evaluations: Conduct regular audits, evaluations, and thematic reviews of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and SEND services to drive improvements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with local authorities, educational institutions, health professionals, parents, carers, and young people to enhance service quality.
  • Performance Monitoring: Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and report on service effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Service Development: Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and strategies to enhance the quality of SEND services.
  • Training & Development: Design and deliver workshops, training sessions, and resources to improve SEND practices across multi-agency teams.
  • Feedback & Improvement: Gather feedback from service users and professionals to inform service improvements and promote a culture of continuous learning.
  • Person Specification:

    Education Requirements:

  • A degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEND) or a relevant discipline is desirable.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in SEND services.

  • Proven experience in quality assurance and/or practice development within SEND services.
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes, and relevant legislation.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Experience working within a local authority or education setting.
  • Understanding of co-production and engagement with children, young people, and families.
  • Relevant qualification in SEND, education, or social care.
  • Additional training or certification in quality assurance and practice development.
