About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team in [Specify Location]. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate therapy interventions to meet the needs of service users.
  • Work with individuals who have a range of physical, mental health, or learning disabilities.
  • Provide leadership and support to junior occupational therapists and therapy assistants.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physiotherapists, social workers, and medical professionals.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and set achievable rehabilitation goals.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend appropriate adaptations or equipment.
  • Deliver training and education to service users, families, and carers.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with professional and legal standards.
  • Stay up to date with the latest research, techniques, and developments in occupational therapy.
  • Essential Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) registration.
  • Significant post-qualification experience in occupational therapy.
  • Strong understanding of current legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and supervising junior staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working in a hospital, community, or rehabilitation setting.
  • Knowledge of specialist equipment and adaptations.
  • Experience with complex case management.
  • Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) is an advantage.
  • To provide information, advice and support to people to:

  • Develop their own skills knowledge and abilities to self-care
  • Develop supportive relationships with families, friends and neighbours
  • Support people to access community groups and voluntary organisations
  • Support people to use universal services as far as possible
  • To use and assist people to access appropriate social prescribing and wellbeing services for information and advice about community groups and voluntary organisations that can help the individual remain independent, and support their own wellbeing. To help people access appropriate services if they wish to purchase goods and services themselves as someone who pays for some or all of their own care and support.

    To provide technical expert information, advice, support and training to staff, sharing knowledge and experience to support progression of Occupational Therapy Assistants and Occupational Therapists. To ensure they can help generate positive and appropriate outcomes for people. To take a senior role in relation to complex cases and to provide oversight and advice to other Occupational Therapists, supporting with team and individual training as suitable. Making sure there is suitable deployment of OT staff across the adult social care system, and that in particular, See and Solve community staff are adequately supported. To support newly qualified and returning to practice Occupational Therapists through the relevant processes such as Preceptorship.

    To contribute or lead (as appropriate) case management procedures including case conferences, safeguarding reviews and best interest decision making.

    To work collaboratively across adult social care and its partners to achieve this. To provide information, advice, support and training to staff to ensure they can help people to generate positive and appropriate outcomes for people.

    To work specifically with housing partners / surveyors to ensure adaptations to people's homes are delivered to meet their needs, undertaking joint assessments and reviews to facilitate this as necessary.

    To maintain own continued professional development in line with HCPC requirements and the RCOT career framework under the 4 pillars of Professional Practice, Facilitation of Learning, Leadership, and Research, Evidence and Development.
