Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join the Long Term Children's Services Team. This team works with children and families where long-term support and planning is required to ensure the safety and well-being of children. The ideal candidate will have strong assessment and case management skills, and a passion for supporting families through meaningful interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of children and families requiring long-term support and intervention.
  • Undertake assessments in line with the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families.
  • Develop and implement care plans, ensuring child-focused planning in partnership with children, families, and relevant professionals.
  • Chair and attend multi-agency meetings such as Child Protection Conferences, Core Group meetings, and Looked After Child reviews.
  • Monitor and review cases in line with statutory requirements, ensuring all records are maintained accurately and up-to-date.
  • Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for court and other statutory purposes.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
  • Ensure all practice is compliant with current legislation, statutory guidance, and departmental procedures.
  • Requirements:

  • Social Work qualification (BA Social Work, MA Social Work, DipSW or equivalent)
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' post-qualifying experience in a statutory children's services setting
  • Proven experience of working with children and families in need, on child protection plans, or in care proceedings
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, and related statutory guidance
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred
