Assessing Social Worker, Kinship Assessment Service.
This is a countywide role and some travel across the UK will be required due to location of assessments. Weekly attendance in the office, however this is flexible as long as the service need is met.
About the role:The service is responsible for the assessment of connected carers, both as foster carers and special guardians. This is a challenging and rewarding role which involves the preparation of assessments for both Court and Fostering Panels and supporting cares who are granted with Special Guardianship Orders who reside in Devon, as well as those where Devon was the responsible authority and who live elsewhere.This is an exciting time to join the team which is expanding due the increase of children being cared for within their family network.You will champion high standards of professional social work practice and have sound knowledge in fostering regulations and legal options available to children to be cared for by persons within their network.
Skills and experience required:* Be an experienced social worker with child protection/safeguarding experience* Have at least 2 years post qualifying experience * An understanding of fostering and special guardianship regulations* Robust post qualifying social work experience within children and families* Experience of working within child protection* Either: have some experience of working within Fostering and Special Guardianship or demonstrate transferable skills from another current or previous role* Experience and skills in working with wider family and family networks* Knowledge about all the different legal options for children to be looked after by persons from within their network. These include informal family and friends arrangements, Family and Friends Fostering, Special Guardianship, and Child Arrangement Orders* A willingness to work across the whole of the Kinship Care Service depending on the requirements of the service
